As the human race's relationship to the world becomes ever more complex and technological, I feel it becomes increasingly important to attune our emotional and spiritual connections to nature.

With this in mind, I use animals as subject matter to help bring their sense of eloquent grace and psychic vitality to our often nature-sterile environments. Because the relationship between dogs and humans is the oldest and most complex alliance between two species, they provide unique metaphors to the human condition. Exploring the human/dog connection through my anthropomorphic canines, I intend to provide an illuminating mirror for us, the "dominant species."

Since the early 1990s, my work has also expanded to encompass animals in mythology and wild animals, particularly the endangered species. In contrast to dogs and other domesticated animals, these creatures are entirely mysterious to most of us, a mystery my work celebrates, examines and honors. Through focusing on these beautifully diverse creatures, I seek to value and respect our planet's co-inhabitors.
